St. Mary and St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church of Syracuse, NY is honored to host the Annual Sports League for Upstate Coptic Youth (or St.Lucy for short). Interestingly enough, after the acronym was decided upon, we fount out that St. Lucy is a Christian martyr from the third/fourth Century, who hails from Syracuse, Italy and who is honored by the various churches of the world (a brief biography of the saint can be found here). We have thus decided to take St. Lucy as the patron saint for this activity. May our Lord bless this activity and use it to bring glory to his name and to bring us all closer to Him and to one another, through the prayers of St. Lucy and all the saints, Amen
